Type 1 EPA Certification is available by mail and can also now be accessed on-line. The Type 1 Certification Card can be obtained though a company called Qwik Products by mail or on-line.

If you click on this link you can learn all you need to know about a Type 1 certification card. Which is all that is needed to work on any products that contain 5 pounds or less of refrigerant. This would include ALL of Whirlpool's refrigeration products. This site also has all the information an IHSP would need to obtain any other type of EPA certification you may want.
